How to decide between FreiDok plus and FreiData
Users of FreiData may wonder about the differences compared to FreiDok plus .
FreiDok plus
FreiDok plus is the institutional repository of the University of Freiburg. For authors, it serves as a platform to directly publish publications of all kinds as primary or secondary releases or to deposit them as bibliographic information. For the university, it is a university bibliography and research documentation system. FreiDok plus is a cornerstone in the implementation of Open Access and Open Science.
In FreiDok plus, there is a list of publication types that can be published there. The type „Research Data“ is also available there, but the storage associated with FreiDok plus is limited.
FreiData
FreiData is therefore set up as a complement to FreiDok plus. It can accommodate datasets of research data with higher storage requirements that are intended to be published and citable. FreiData is connected to a storage system with high capacities, and is offered as sustainable infrastructure that enables publications within the university without additional costs, as long as they fall within the Fair Use guidelines. The details are specified in the Data Submission Agreement , which is agreed upon during the first access to FreiData.
Further Decision Support

This should resolve almost all uncertainties. If doubts persist, colleagues are available for assistance, reachable via the email address freidok@ub.uni-freiburg.de for FreiDok plus and rdm@mail.uni-freiburg.de for FreiData.
